- 1 Apple
- 1 Teaspoon Black Tea or 1 tea bag
- 1 1/4 Cup Water
- Honey or Sugar to taste optional
Start by coring and slicing the apple into large slices.
Add water and apples to a saucepan and allow to simmer on low for about 10-15 minutes. The liquid in the pot will turn pink. Once the apples are cooked use a hand masher and mash down the apple.
Let mixture cool enough to handle before straining out cooked apples.
Strain out apple pulp with a fine strainer. You might need to strain for a second time to remove all the pulp.
Return all the strained liquid to the pot and bring to a low boil.
Turn off the heat and add in tea. Allow the tea to steep for 5 minutes.
Strain out the tea.
Enjoy!
- Use quality, pure, filtered water for your tea.
- Use fresh ripe sweet apples.
- Add a bit of honey or sugar for a sweeter tea.
Make it caffeine free by substituting black tea with rooibos tea.
- Avoid over-steeping your tea as it can cause the tea to become bitter.
