- 1/2 Cup Ginger peeled and chopped
- 1 Cup Sugar
- 1 Cup Water
Start by peeling fresh ginger and slicing it into thin pieces to release all that wonderful flavor.
In a medium saucepan, combine chopped ginger with sugar and water. Bring the mixture to a gentle boil over medium heat, stirring occasionally until the sugar dissolves completely.
Once the sugar is dissolved, turn off the heat and let it steep for about 15 minutes. This allows the ginger to infuse more of its lovely spicy flavor into the syrup.
After simmering, remove the saucepan from heat and let it cool for a few minutes. (cool enough to safely handle) Then, strain out the ginger pieces using a fine mesh strainer or cheesecloth. Make sure to squeeze out any remaining syrup from the ginger!
Pour your ginger simple syrup into a clean jar or bottle and let it cool completely before sealing. It can be stored in the fridge for up to 2 weeks, ready to use in all your favorite drinks!
