- 1 Apple Cut into about 4 slices
- 1 Teaspoon Black Tea or 1 Tea bag
- 2 Tablespoons Sugar
- 1 Cinnamon Stick
- 1 Teaspoon Vanilla
- 1 1/4 Cup Water
- 1/4 Cup Milk optional
Start by washing and drying your apple and cutting it into large slices. (About 4 slices is perfect.)
Add water, apple, vanilla, and cinnamon stick to your saucepan. Cook over low heat for about 10 minutes. Apples will be soft and easily mashed down with a fork or masher.
Mash apples down a bit and let them cool enough to handle. Strain out the apple slices and remove the cinnamon stick. You might need to strain twice to remove all the apple pulp.
Return apple liquid to the pot on the stovetop and cook over low heat to bring it back to a simmer. Turn off the heat and add in black tea. Cover the pot and steep for 5 minutes.
Strain out black tea, and stir in sugar until dissolved.
Pour into a cup and enjoy!
- If your cinnamon stick is an extra large size it may be too much cinnamon and overpower the other flavors in this recipe. Consider cutting it in half, or only adding it halfway into cooking the apples. (At about the 5-minute mark.)
- Try replacing black tea with green tea for green apple tea.
- Substitute sugar with honey or coconut sugar.
- Add warmed and frothed milk to make an apple cinnamon tea latte.
