Ingredients

  • 2 Teaspoons Cardamom Pods
  • 2 Cups Water
  • 1 Tablespoon Honey

Instructions

  • Start by adding whole cardamom pods to a mortar and pestle and lightly crush the pods.
  • After lightly crushing the pods add them to a small pot with water and bring to a boil.
  • Once the water has reached a boil, reduce the heat to low and allow the tea to simmer for about 8 minutes. (If you prefer stronger tea, leave it on the heat for an extra minute or two.)
  • Take the tea off the heat and let it cool enough to handle. (if using tea leaves, add tea here and allow to steep for 5 minutes)
  • Use a strainer to pour your cardamom tea into your mug.
  • Add honey to taste, stir, and serve hot!

Notes

  • Adjust Sweetness: Start with a small amount of honey and adjust to taste. Remember, it’s easier to add more sweetness than to take it away!
  • Crush Cardamom Pods Gently: Lightly crush the cardamom pods to release their flavor without turning them into a powder. This ensures your tea is infused with the perfect amount of cardamom goodness.
  • Simmering Time: For a stronger cardamom flavor, don’t hesitate to simmer the tea for a couple of extra minutes. However, keep an eye on it to avoid bitterness.
  • Milk is Optional: Adding milk can transform your cardamom tea into a creamy delight, but it’s just as delicious without it, especially if you prefer a lighter version.
