- 1.5 Tablespoons Fresh Chopped Ginger
- 1 1/4 Cups Water
- 2 Tea Bags Black Tea
- 2 Tablespoons Sugar
- 1 Cup Milk
Add water and peel and sliced fresh ginger to a small pot. Cover with a lid and cook on low for 10 minutes.
Turn off the heat and add in tea. Cover the pot with a lid and allow the tea to steep for 5 minutes.
Strain out tea and ginger and return the liquid mixture to the pot.
Turn the heat back on low and stir in sugar and milk. Stir to dissolve the sugar completely and warm up the tea.
Once the tea is warm to your liking it is ready to serve. Pour straight into your favorite heat-safe cup or serve from a teapot. (optional- use a handheld frother to froth tea and create an extra cozy drink)
- If you prefer a stronger ginger flavor, start by boiling the ginger for longer or adding more fresh ginger to the recipe. You can also replace the fresh ginger with ground ginger if desired. Just use one teaspoon of ground ginger instead of boiling fresh ginger.
- For a vegan version of this drink, use your favorite dairy-free milk and substitute the sugar with another sweetener like honey or agave, stevia, or coconut sugar.
- You can also adjust this recipe based on how strong you like your tea. Start by using two teaspoons of black tea or two tea bags and adjust up or down depending on preference.
- Finally, feel free to experiment with different types of tea. Green tea, oolong, and chai all work great in this recipe.
