  • Small Pot
  • Syrup Bottle

Ingredients

  • 1/4 Cup Dried Hibiscus Flowers
  • 1 Cup Sugar
  • 1 Cup Water

Instructions

  • Add hibiscus, sugar, and water to a small pot over medium heat.
  • Stir occasionally until sugar fully dissolves.
  • Turn off heat and cover.
  • Steep for about 5 – 10 minutes.
  • Strain out hibiscus solids.

Notes

  • Cooking: Watch syrup while it is on the stove. It only takes a few minutes for the sugar to fully dissolve. Sugar can also burn if left unattended.
  • Storage: Store leftover simple syrup in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to one week.
  • Variations: For a twist, you can infuse the syrup with a splash of vanilla extract or a few sprigs of fresh mint during the steeping process.
  • Consistency: If you prefer a thicker syrup, simmer the mixture a bit longer before straining the hibiscus flowers.
  • Serving Ideas: Besides drinks and desserts, try using the syrup as a delicious glaze for grilled chicken or as a topping for pancakes and waffles.
