Equipment

  • Tall Glass Pitcher
  • Organic Tamarind Paste Concentrate
  • Lipton Tea Bags Regular

Ingredients

  • 6 Lipton Tea Bags
  • 7 Cups Water divided
  • 4 Tablespoons Tamarind Paste
  • 1 Cup Sugar

Instructions

Brew Tea

  • Bring Water to a boil on the stovetop.
  • Once the water is boiling, turn off the heat and add in tea. Cover and steep for 5 minutes.
  • Once the tea has finished steeping, remove the tea and allow it to cool completely.

Make Tamarind Syrup

  • While the tea is steeping and cooling is the perfect time to make the tamarind syrup.
  • Start by adding tamarind paste to a small pot and add sugar and water.
  • Turn the heat on low and stir occasionally until the ingredients are combined and the sugar has dissolved.
  • Set aside and allow to cool completely.

Serving

  • Pour the tea into a tall pitcher and mix in tamarind syrup.
  • Stir to fully combine.
  • Serve over ice and add optional garnishes such as lemon wedges, mint, or rosemary!

Notes

  • Make tea with fresh filteredfiltered water.
  • Tamarind paste may also be called tamarind concentrate.
  • Add ice only to serving glasses to avoid possibly watering down the tea.
  • If the tea is too strong for your taste, add more water. Start with 1 cup and add more to your taste preference.
  • Add a bit of a kick with ginger. Ginger and tamarind tea is a great combination!
