Ingredients

  • 2 Thai Tea Bags or 2 heaping teaspoons of loose-leaf
  • 1 Cup Water
  • 1/2 Cup Milk
  • 2 Tablespoons Simple Syrup

Instructions

  • Start by bringing water to a boil on the stovetop or in an electric kettle. Once it’s reached boiling point, remove it from the heat
  • Add Thai tea bags to a small teapot or heat-safe pitcher pour over water and let the Thai tea bags steep in the hot water for approximately 5 minutes.
  • After the tea bags have steeped, remove them and add simple syrup to the tea mixture (you can use more or less depending on how sweet you want your latte).
  • Pour prepared Thai tea into the serving cup.
  • In a separate pot heat your choice of milk on a low heat. Make sure to stir it occasionally to prevent it from burning.
  • Foam steamed milk and pour over tea.
  • Enjoy!

Notes

  • Make it Vegan: Substitute with Almond, coconut, or oat milk to make this a Vegan Thai Tea Latte.
  • Sweetness Adjustment: The level of sweetness can be adjusted according to personal preference. If you prefer a less sweet latte, reduce the amount of simple syrup.
  • Storing: Thai Tea Latte can be stored in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. If you’ve added the milk, shake well before serving.
  • Reheating: If you want to enjoy your Thai Tea Latte warm, it can be reheated on the stove. Just ensure it doesn’t reach boiling point to prevent the milk from burning.
  • Serving Suggestions: This Thai Tea Latte is the hot version. It is meant to be served warm. However, for a cold version check out this recipe for an iced Thai latte or a Thai bubble tea.
  • Tea Bag Selection: The choice of a Thai Tea bag is crucial for the final flavor profile. Different brands offer varying degrees of spiciness, sweetness, and tea intensity. It’s worth trying a few to find your personal favorite.
  • DIY Simple Syrup: Making simple syrup at home is easy. Just combine equal parts of sugar and water and heat until the sugar dissolves.
