Make the iced version of the super popular and delicious matcha latte. This iced matcha latte recipe is quickly whipped up using your choice of either a blender or a shaker bottle. Using high-quality matcha, creamy milk, vanilla, and honey, the flavors of this drink will refresh and invigorate.
I recently shared my iced chai latte recipe that takes less than a minute to whip up. It’s summertime and while I love my daily cup of hot tea, I need something iced in the afternoons to cool off and work as a pick-me-up. Iced matcha tea latte is the perfect drink for the job. It is full of health benefits, contains caffeine to give me the energy I need to finish the day out strong, and is full of complimentary flavors that are so satisfying.

Why You Will Love Iced Matcha Latte
This recipe is quick and requires minimal ingredients. The perfect blend of creamy milk, sweet honey, and the earthy flavor of matcha all fused together to make a new flavor that is delicious and refreshing! Matcha green tea latte is:
- Very Healthy
- Easily Customizable to use your favorite milk or sweetener.
- Refreshing
- Ice Cold
- Revitalizing with natural caffeine
Ingredients
- Matcha Green Tea Powder – Chose a high-quality organic matcha powder grown in Japan.
- Honey – Any honey will do for this recipe, but I like raw unfiltered local honey. If you want to make this recipe vegan, try substituting maple syrup for honey. You can also use a honey simple syrup if desired.
- Vanilla – Avoid imitation vanilla extract if possible and opt for real vanilla extract or vanilla bean paste. It is easily available at most supermarkets or online. Better yet, you can make your own!
- Milk – Here is where you can fully customize your matcha latte! Use full-fat milk for a creamy latte, or make this recipe daily-free or vegetarian by using non-dairy milk such as oat milk, almond milk, or cashew milk.
- Water – Filtered or spring water tastes sweet and smooth and is best for making tea.
- Ice – Large cubes of ice are best for this drink. Small cubes or crushed ice will melt quickly leaving a watered-down drink.

What Does Matcha Taste Like?
Matcha is a true tea. The tea plant is specially grown, dried, and ground into a fine powder. Matcha is best known for its earthy and vegetational flavor but it also has hints of nuttiness and sweetness.
How to Make a Matcha Latte without a Whisk?
Traditionally matcha is made by combining water and matcha and whisking together with a bamboo whisk. Matcha easily clumps and this centuries-old tradition has proven the perfect method for making a foamy matcha tea perfectly.
However, if you do not have a bamboo whisk there are two other methods I have found to work almost as well. One is using the blender to whisk matcha and the other is using a shaker bottle.
Where is Matcha From?
True matcha is grown in Japan using a unique method of growing and production to produce beautiful, bright, and healthful matcha powder.
Two weeks before harvest, the tea plants are covered to provide extra shade. This causes the leaves to produce additional amino acids and chlorophyll which gives their leaves an extra bright color. The tea leaves are handed picked and stone ground into a fine powder. The matcha is quickly packed preserving all its nutrients.
Matcha Benefits
Considered a superfood, matcha is full of health benefits.
Studies have shown that matcha may have positive impacts on the skin, for weight loss, concentration, bone health, cancer prevention, heart health, and even diabetes. Matcha is a true tea that contains caffeine. But unlike coffee or other high caffeinated drinks which may create an “energy high” and an energy crash, matcha contains an amino acid called L-theanine that gives a slow release of energy over many hours.
