Ingredients

  • Matcha Powder: Provides a green color and delicate, grassy flavor.
  • Turmeric Powder: Adds a warm, earthy spice and vibrant yellow-orange hue.
  • Milk of Choice: Creates creaminess; options include dairy, almond, soy, or oat milk.
  • Vanilla Simple Syrup – You can use your sweetener of choice, but I love this vanilla simple syrup recipe. Not only does it blend in easily, but it also has a hint of vanilla which enhances the flavors of this latte.
  • Black Pepper: Optional

Expert Tips and Notes

  • Use Fresh Ingredients: For the best flavor, make sure your matcha and turmeric powders are fresh. Check expiration dates and store them in a cool, dry place.
  • Adjust Sweetness: Feel free to tweak the amount of vanilla simple syrup to suit your taste. Honey or agave syrup can be great alternatives if you’re looking for healthier options.
  • Experiment with Milk: Different types of milk will slightly alter the taste and consistency of the latte. Try experimenting with oat milk for a creamier texture or almond milk for a nuttier flavor.
  • Consider Iced Latte: For a refreshing twist, try making this latte iced. Simply prepare the matcha and turmeric as directed, chill the mixture, and pour over ice with cold milk.

FAQ

Can I use a different sweetener instead of vanilla simple syrup?

Absolutely! Feel free to swap the vanilla simple syrup with honey, agave syrup, or even maple syrup. Each will give a slightly different flavor, so pick what you love the most.

Do I have to add black pepper to the latte?

Adding black pepper is optional. If you prefer a milder taste, you can leave it out.

What type of milk works best for this recipe?

You can use any milk you prefer. Dairy milk will offer a creamy texture, while non-dairy options like almond, soy, or oat milk will provide different flavor profiles and levels of creaminess.

Can I make this latte without a whisk?

Yes, there are other options if you don’t have a bamboo or electric whisk. A simple matcha latte hack is to use a protein shaker bottle with a blender ball to mix the powders with water. This method works very well.

How do I store leftover turmeric matcha latte?

It’s best to enjoy the latte fresh. However, if you have leftovers, store them in an airtight container in the refrigerator and consume within a day. Give it a good shake or stir before drinking.
