What is a Strawberry Matcha Latte?
Strawberry matcha lattes are a delicious and refreshing beverage that combines two of the most popular flavors in the world: matcha and strawberries. Matcha is a finely ground green tea powder originating in Japan, while strawberries are a sweet, juicy fruit known worldwide. The result is a delicious drink with an earthy and sweet taste. Strawberry matcha lattes can be enjoyed hot or cold, depending on your preference but this exact recipe is for cold.
Ingredients for a Matcha Strawberry Latte
- Fresh Strawberries – This is the key and star ingredient. Chose ripe red juicy strawberries to make this recipe. PRO TIP: Bigger doesn’t always mean better. I’ve found some of the juiciest and sweetest strawberries are actually the smallest.
- Milk – For this recipe, I used unsweetened almond milk. I think it was actually perfect but of course, you can use your favorite milk. PRO TIP: Only use unsweetened milk for more control over the sweetness of this recipe and because this recipe includes its own sweetener.
- Matcha – You will want to look for some high-quality matcha. Matcha should be smooth to the touch and taste smooth with no bitter aftertaste. It should also be bright in color and be produced in Japan.
- Sugar – I actually just used regular granulated sugar to boost the natural sweet taste in the strawberries. This liquid cane sugar should also work just as well and not alter the taste in any way.

- You can use almost any milk as long as it is unsweetened.

Matcha Tips
Matcha is a very special and unique ingredient, which means it needs to be treated with respect and care. To ensure you get the best out of your matcha, here are some top tips and tricks:
- Start with high-quality matcha: Make sure to purchase authentic Japanese matcha from a trusted source. Look for matcha that is bright green in color and smooth to the touch.
- Store matcha properly: Matcha should be stored away from heat, moisture, and light. The best way to store it is to keep it in an airtight container, in a cool and dark place such as your pantry or kitchen cupboard.
- Don’t forget to sift: Always sift matcha before using it. This will ensure you get a smooth, clump-free drink.
- Use the right whisk: Using a matcha whisk is key to creating a frothy, bubble-filled latte. A traditional bamboo or stainless steel electric matcha whisk works best.
- Get creative: Matcha can be added to almost any recipe. Whether it’s an iced latte, smoothie bowl or baked goods, matcha is a great way to add flavor and color to your creations!
