lavender milk tea

Lavender milk tea is sweet, herbal, and floral flavored tea latte. I love this tea because it is caffeine-free and can be enjoyed any time of day. It is a warm tea to drink in the morning but just as comforting in the late afternoon or evening while winding down from the day. It is incredibly quick to make a single cup and I will show you my shortcut that still keeps all the richness and flavor! This tea is also very forgiving! I have made many variations using different kinds of milk and sweeteners to a variety of steeping times and with each recipe, it still tasted wonderful!

Why You Will Love this Tea!

  • Exquisite aroma
  • Caffeine Free

What is Milk Tea

Milk tea is simply milk added to tea. While most think of adding milk to stronger teas such as English Breakfast, or Earl Grey, adding milk to herbal teas is becoming more popular and it’s no wonder why.

Is Milk Good with Lavender Tea?

Lavender is a perfect tisane to add milk to. It has a gentle floral flavor that tastes so delicious when combined with milk and a bit of sweetener. (Add a drop of vanilla for a deeper flavor element)

Since lavender tea has such a delicate flavor, it is important to remember to use the correct amounts of lavender petals with water and milk.

When done correctly this tea is amazing!

A Little About Lavender

Lavender is a beautiful purple flowering plant that is part of the mint family. Many people add lavender to their landscaping because it is so beautiful and has the most divine aroma.

Lavender is not only beautiful but it also contains many medicinal properties as well. Studies show that its soothing aroma may relieve stress as well as many skin benefits, just to name a few. You can read more about the health benefits of lavender tea here.

Lavender is an herb and fully edible. (Though I caution you to only use organic food-grade lavender for consumption!) It is neither sweet nor savory and lends itself well to both types of dishes.

Lavender Milk Tea with Boba

While I do not call for boba in this recipe, you certainly can add it to your tea! Adding boba to your tea adds an extra fun element with chewy tapioca balls.

If choosing to use boba add 1/4 cup of cooked tapioca pearls to the bottom of the cup first and then follow the recipe accordingly.

What is Lavender Milk Tea Made Of?

The ingredients in lavender milk tea are:

  • Lavender – I use culinary-grade, organic lavender petals.
  • Sugar – A sugar that quickly dissolves is best for this recipe. Liquid cane sugar is also a great option. Note: you will need to double the amount as liquid sugar is 1:1 water sugar ratio.
  • Milk – My personal choice for this recipe is unflavored almond milk. Below I share more options.
  • Water – Not to be overlooked, water plays an important roll in making tea. Chose a good water such as filtered or spring water.
