This refreshing blackberry iced tea recipe is made from scratch using fresh ripe blackberries. It’s a sweet iced tea, loved by everyone, and perfect for the entire summer!
Welcome back to my summer fruit-inspired iced tea recipe series. Previously I shared my peach iced tea recipe, raspberry iced tea, and blueberry iced tea. Typically I make my fruit iced tea completely from scratch. It is so simple and takes a few extra minutes, but the results are absolutely worth it!
Since you can’t have enough sweet fruit iced teas in the summer, and I happen to have several blackberry bushes, I thought to myself, why not make a blackberry iced tea? Again, I made a simple syrup first. (super easy and I walk you through every step!) The results were amazing, so here we go!
What is Blackberry Iced Tea?
Blackberry iced tea is blackberries and black tea. First I made blackberry syrup by cooking the blackberries with sugar and water. Next, I steeped black tea extra strong so it would hold up with the sweet blackberries and ice. Once all the elements were cool enough to handle, I mixed them together in a mason jar and left it to chill in the refrigerator.
How to Serve Blackberry Iced Tea?
This tea is perfect for any occasion. It looks gorgeous and tastes amazing. It also pairs well with all your favorite summer dishes or is sipped by itself for the perfect refreshing drink!
You can make this whole recipe into one big pitcher or keep the tea and syrup separate and mix only enough for a single serving.
What is in Blackberry Iced Tea?
With only 4 ingredients you can make this yummy tea in no time flat!
- Fresh Ripe Blackberries – I use ripe in-season blackberries for this recipe. It’s even more fun if you’re able to pick them yourselves!
- Sugar- Regular table sugar is great for this recipe. It dissolves easily and quickly. You can also use another type of sweetener but it will alter the taste a bit.
- Black Tea – I just use Lipton for my tea base. It’s a classic. Almost everyone loves it, and it is available to purchase pretty much everywhere!
- Water – Not to be overlooked, but water can be an important flavor in making the perfect cup of tea. Good water makes good tea! Try for filtered water if you can.
- Lemon Slices (optional) – I almost always add fresh lemon slices to my iced tea. It’s almost a habit now. Lemon adds freshness and color to your tea.
- Fresh Mint (optional) – If you like mint, you will love it in this tea. Just a few sprigs are all you need.

- Use filtered or spring water to brew your tea. The best tasting water makes the best tasting tea.
- Make this recipe refined sugar free by substituting with honey, stevia, or another favorite sweetener.
- Mix it up and try green tea instead. You can find my cold brew green tea recipe here!
- Add fresh blackberries, lemon, lime, or mint for garnish.
How to Store Prepared Tea
- Tea should be refrigerated when not in use. I like to store my tea in a quart size mason jar with a fitting plastic lid.
- Blackberry iced tea can last several days to a week in the refrigerator, but should it start to smell rancid or develop an off color, discard immediately.
